Welcome to the Sorting Ceremony. Here you can apply to have your student sorted into one of the four houses of Hogwarts. Please note that the ultimate decision of what house your character is placed in lies with the Admin, who will decide the most appropriate house based on your application.
To apply to be sorted, please copy the following code into a new thread in the Sorting Ceremony board (the board that this thread is housed in). Please title the thread using the first and last names of your character, and format it as follows;

All applications will be reviewed within 12 hours, if not sooner. If your character has still not been sorted after 24 hours, please PM the Admin to rush it along. If there is a problem with your application, the Admin will edit your thread stating what the problem is and how it can be resolved.
Please find below the code a detailed description of what is being asked of you. If you are still unsure, please refer to the Example Application. If you are still unsure after that, please don't hesitate to PM the Admin with any questions that you may have.

WHAT IS IT ASKING OF YOU?

Your name: Here is where you put your name, not your characters name. The name that you would like staff to refer to you by. This does not have to be your real name.
Other Characters: List here any other characters you have on the site. If you have one or more characters that have already been sorted, then you do not need to post an RP sample as part of your application.

Character Name: The full name of your character, including any middle names.
Age/School Year: How old your character is, and what year this would make them. Bear in mind that the school year starts September 1st. All those with birthdays after September 1st won't be able to attend Hogwarts until the following year. If a student had their 11th birthday in March, they would attend Hogwarts from the September of the same year, and would turn 12 in the March of their first year. If a student had their 11th Birthday in October, they would attend Hogwarts from the September of the following year, meaning that they too would turn 12, but in the October of their first year.
Birthday: Please include day, month and year as this enables the Admin to check that the age/school year is correct, and to add your characters birthday to the calendar.
House Preference: This is what house you would most like your character to be placed in. Please note that by stating a house it does not guarantee that is where they will end up, as all sorting applications are decided by the Admin based on the information given in the application.
Appearance:
Here is where you need to describe the appearance of your character. Pictures are not permitted in any section of the application, so please use words only. Bear in mind that the first impression of your character will be based on their appearance. Try to make this description as full as possible to really give an idea of what your character looks like.
Personality:
Although it is not expected that you know your character inside out before you start posting with them, it is assumed that you will have some idea of their personality. Please describe here as many aspects of this as possible. What traits do they have? Do they have any tendencies to act a certain way? What are their flaws? Etc.
Character History:
Here is where you tell your character's story, from the day they were born to the present. Please include details of parentage, any family history that has impacted your character, and anything else of importance.
Parents: The names and ages of your character's parents. You get extra points for also stating their occupation.
Other Family: Any other significant family that your character has. For example, this may include siblings, cousins, etc.
RP Sample:
As stated above, if you have one or more sorted characters on TMR, you do not need to provide an RP sample. If you do not, please provide here a well-written RP sample of a decent length (300 words or more). If your RP sample does not meet requirements, you will be informed of this and asked to edit it until it meets the RP requirements of the site. If you aren't very confident in your writing, please don't be afraid! Everyone here is very welcoming and will always help you if you ask.
