Appearance:

James has dark, but gradually greying hair that has begun to recede as he gets older. His face bears a slightly tanned skin tone, and is relatively lined as a result of his age and the stress of his life. His mouth is often set in a straight line, his brows often mirroring this somewhat harsh expression. James is most likely to be found in a sharp suit accompanied by work robes as he carries out his duties in the Ministry, although he has been taking less care of himself lately, and can often be seen sporting a little more than a five o clock shadow. 

Personality:

James is quite an arrogant man, always proud of his heritage and reputation, he makes it known that it is the case. He is confident in his abilities in both his profession, and his role as father, although his children don't always agree. He can be quite a harsh man, often putting work above family, although lately putting something much darker above both. James is also something of a selfish man, only choosing to do something should it benefit him, and although this has served him well in his professional career, he is losing the trust of his children as a result of it. 

Character History:

James Potter was very much his father's son growing up, he was a Gryffindor at school, Seeker on the Quidditch Team and Quidditch Captain in his last year. He did reasonably well in his examinations and went on to follow in his father's footsteps and become an Auror. He cared a lot about his profession, quickly rising through the ranks until he became Head of Magical Law Enforcement at the age of 42. Always a firm believer in 'work hard, play hard', he quickly became one of the most trusted employees of the Minister and after his death, he was quickly chosen to replace him as the Minister for Magic.

James met his wife, Esther, shortly into his career, and their romance blossomed quickly. They married in 2047, a lavish affair that had the attention of the whole wizarding world. Two years after their wedding, Esther became pregnant for the first time, and gave birth to twins in 2050. Two years after that, she became pregnant again, this time giving birth to a second son. James doted on his daughter, and was strict on his sons.

More recently, following the death of his father, James has been drifting further and further away from his family, and is seemingly changing into someone that none of them know as well as they did. He has been acting very shifty, spending more and more time away from home and away from the Ministry. Although he is using his power as Minister to create something much more sinister.

James sighed as he sat at his desk in the Ministry. There was something that wasn't going to plan, and that was something that James was not accustomed to. He was used to having everything planned to perfection, ensured that it would not go wrong, and yet, here he was looking through lists of names and locations and wondering what on earth he had been handed. He frowned and set the papers on his desk just as a knock on the door sounded, at which he looked up quickly, placing Ministry paperwork on top of what he had been looking at. "Come in," he said shortly, awaiting the entry of whoever deemed it important enough to interrupt him.

He frowned as his junior assistant put her head around the door, merely to offer him a coffee. James shook his head irritably and snapped at her, although telling her that she would be sacked if she dared interrupt him again may have been a tiny bit harsh. He threw the Ministry papers to one side and retook his position in front of his list of names, debating whether or not they would be useful in the slightest, or whether he should cut his losses and throw the whole thing in the fire. James massaged his temples with his fingertips and took a quill in hand, starting to make annotations on the parchment that lay before him.
