Willow hated the nights she was supposed to patrol the corridors like some kind of glorified prefect. She wanted to be in her own personal quarters with her husband. Maybe sitting in front of the fire and drinking together, or even doing some kind of massage. Albus was very good with his hands. Willow found herself daydreaming as she stood against the wall in the fifth floor corridor. She would have fallen asleep if she wasn't standing up. And even then, it might have happened if not for the shuffling of feet she heard somewhere nearby.
She perked up and looked around, but she didn't see anyone. She took out her wand and held it in front of her, murmuring, "Lumos," and the tip of her wand lit up the dim hallway. She checked every direction and couldn't see anyone again. She thought for a second that it might have been her imagination, until a student came from behind a tapestry in the wall and Willow's eyes widened. "Jane Simmons?"
But then she realized that Jane wasn't alone. And in fact, Jane was with someone Willow had no desire to see coming out from behind a tapestry, obviously hiding some form of secret. It was her stepdaughter, Erin. And now Willow would have to punish the girls. She sincerely did not want to, because she didn't want to create any kind of rift between her and her husband's youngest child. The only other option was to keep this encounter from Albus. Did she really want to lie to him?
"Jane, please go to bed. Five points from Ravenclaw. But this will be a warning other than that. If I see you out of bounds after curfew again, I will give you a detention."
She watched the girl go and she turned to Erin. "What now, young lady? What would your father say? Care to tell me where the two of you have been?"
