Katherine should I have known that her day wasn’t going to be an easy one when her boss Mr. Carlton showed up in her office not even a second after she had sat down, either he was waiting for her to come in or it was just a happy coincidence. Katherine didn’t believe in coincidences. “Congratulations Miss McLaggen,” he said cheerfully as if they were old friends. “I have a job for you today,” He began as he picked up a lava lamp that sat on her desk with a confused expression on his face, “an interview I would like you to conduct…if you are up to it that is,” Katherine did a double take, her mouth hung open unattractively as she blinked in surprise. “A-Are you serious? I mean yes I would love to,” Putting the Lava Lamp a few inches away from where it was before Mr. Carlton sat down across from her, rubbing her lips together Kat eyed the Lava Lamp, “Good, Prime Minister Potter is waiting for you to arrive in a half hour,” Looking away from the Lava Lamp Kat looked at Mr. Carlton confused, the man had just lost his father and we are going to interview him? She knew that Reporters were known for their ambitious mind set when it came to stories but his father died a few days ago shouldn’t we give him a week to grieve? “You are going to be asking him questions relating to his father and how their family and the Ministry is holding up, the story is supposed to be a happy one, to reassure the public that just because the Chosen One is dead our world wont fall apart. That the Prime Minister will protect us as he has always done,” Mr. Carlton got up then and brushed the wrinkles out of his dress shirt as he started to head out the door, “Protect us? Protect us from what exactly?” Rolling his eyes Mr. Carlton stopped at the door, “Anything and anyone that wants to disrupt our peace Miss McLaggen, and don’t look so nervous you will do fine.” He said as he walked out the door causing Kat to make a mental note to ask what kind of job he was giving her before agreeing to it as she put the Lava Lamp back in its place. She hasn’t had a story to do in months and this is what they decide to give her? Was it because they didn’t want to be the one to question a grieving man?
Nevertheless Kat sat outside the Ministers office waiting for Prime Minister Potter to call her in, wondering if he would be upset with her for doing this sort of interview right after he lost his father. If he was she hoped he wouldn’t cry, Katherine hated it when people cried, she would much rather have him be rude to her, that she could handle.
It didn't say when his dad died so I am just saying it happened three days ago this can be a sort of 'past' thread if you like.
